ONYA Bags are on their way!!

I am very excited to announce that Baby Gecko will soon be stocking ONYA bags.  These fantastic bags made from recycled plastic bags were invented in Fremantle and are a fantastic way to make sure that your 'green' shopping bags are always ONYA!  They are a light parachute-type material and stuff into a little pouch that you can attach to your handbag or your belt.  There a range of products including Onya weigh, Onya dump it and H2Onya stainless steel water bottles.

Baby Gecko is the East Kimberley's Small Business of the Year!

The East Kimberley Small Business Awards were held on Friday night 27 May in Kununurra and Baby Gecko won the home based business category and was then named OVERALL East Kimberley Small Business of the Year!  Here is what the judges had to say.....

 “We are inspired by the depth, innovation and creativity local people showed in the nominations to the Home Based Business award. You know your community is in good hands when people have the confidence, and the strength to follow their dreams. This year’s winner of the Home Based Business Award demonstrated a remarkable sense of clarity in the way they approach their business. They know their market and product well.  They network well and have a clear growth strategy.  They definitely have the “X” factor when it comes to their business approach.”

I am very excited about this recognition in only my first full year of operation and I am looking forward to expanding the business further in the next 12 months.  I will now compete for the Kimberley Business Awards in September and then, if successful there, will go on to the state wide awards in Perth in November.

Itti Bitti Nappies are now available in fantastic prints



Many of you have already discovered the fantastic Itti Bitti range (they are one of my favourites!) -

the original Itti Bitti D'Lish comes in three sizes - small, medium and large and gives you two great options, so you can choose the nappy that best suits your lifestyle and needs;

Baby Gecko Sports Nappies now available



The launch of Baby Gecko's Kununurra Demons and Ord River Magpies Nappies on Saturday 9 April was very successful.  The opening round of the East Kimberley Football League season showcases the traditional rivalry between the Demons and Magpies in Kununurra in the David Plunkett Memorial match.  Unfortunately this year was a very one-sided affair with the Magpies winning 23 goals to 2 goals.  However, the next generation of Demons and Magpies were much more impressive in their brand new BABY GECKO nappies now available in Demons or Magpies designs.

These nappies are sure to be a collectors item.  Black minky outer over a hidden layer of PUL with microfleece inside to draw moisture away from babies skin.  There are two layers of hidden microfibre and a snap-in-booster of bamboo for extra absorbency.  The nappies are available in small, medium or large. Baby Gecko Sports nappies will be listed on the website and available at the Kununurra markets on SATURDAY 30 APRIL but I am taking pre-orders now.  Please email sales@babygecko.om.au to place your order now.  They will be priced at $35 each with $5 from the sale of each nappy going to the respective clubs.

Baby Gecko is back on line!

 Well after three days without internet, I feel like I have lost touch with the world but we are now back on track!  Our thoughts go out to the people of Warmun who have lost their homes, their town and all of their possessions but thankfully no lives.  And a big thumbs up to all the staff and volunteers at Save the Children, Kununurra Neighbourhood House, the Red Cross, DCP, DIA and the Shire in Kununurra who have put up their hands to help them out.

I am an Environmental Officer but currently a stay at home mum with two beautiful daughters. When I was pregnant with my first daughter, I was determined to use the old terry towelling squares as I did not want to use disposables but my close friend introduced me to Modern Cloth Nappies (MCN's). I was so excited that I could use an environmentally sustainable and cost effective option that fitted nicely like a disposable.

I was so confused with all the terms on MCN websites (eg. working out the difference between pocket nappies, fitted's, All in ones, trifold flats etc) that I ordered one of a number of different styles just to see what they looked like. I have never looked back. Both of my girls have now been in cloth since birth and I tell everyone about them. I truly believe in the product and I want every other parent to experience the world of MCN's

As most MCN's are only available on the internet, I wanted to be able to show the people of the East Kimberley a range of MCN's and help them to make an informed choice about what to buy before buying one of every kind like I did. I get so much joy out of talking to people about the benefits of cloth nappies and showing them the fantastic range of colours and designs available.

This is a really big passion for me so I really hope you get something out of my website and the products I have available.
